Heavy winds and rain led to the cancellation of 773 flights in Washington DC and Philadelphia today (as of 5:40PM).

Washington DC Most Affected

Reagan National airport in the nation's capital was the worst hit with 333 cancellations, followed by Washington-Dulles with 282, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.com.

Other mid-Atlantic cities also took a beating with 160 flights cancelled at Philadelphia.

Many flights were also cancelled at Baltimore-Washington airport (98), LaGuardia (107), JFK (69) and Newark Liberty (75).

High winds were delaying flights out of New York area airports.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge outside Annapolis has been closed in both directions because of heavy winds and an accident involving a tractor-trailer.

Roads are slippery and the evening snow will likely make the situation worse.

Total cancellations within, into, or out of the U.S. today stood at 2,230.

The effects of the storm will ripple into tomorrow with 184 flights already cancelled for Thursday

Check with your airline before heading out to the airport.
