To the long security lines, annoying pat downs, flight delays, tarmac waits, pesky fees, slow-moving immigration lines, baggage restrictions and cramped seats, add finding the departure gate and reaching it there on time to the endless list of stresses confronting present-day air travelers.
Millions miss their flights every year because they fail to reach their departure gates on time and are forced to buy new tickets costing several hundred dollars and must endure hours of delay.
Finding Gates Made Easy
A new app called Connect On Time has debuted for the iPhone to help travelers easily find their gates.
The app addresses the two key questions travelers have when they get to the airport:
* Where are my gates?
* How much time will I need to reach them?
Developed by Mo'zippity Apps, Connect On Time uses its database of over one million gate-to-gate time measurements, customized airport maps, and a special algorithm to answer the two questions within seconds for several of the world's top airports.
Version 1 of the app covers 42 airports including several of the major ones in the U.S. like JFK, Philadelphia, Washington-Dulles, Washington-Reagan, O'Hare Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, LAX and Atlanta.
Several international airports including London/Heathrow, Incheon Seoul, Tokyo/Narita, Dubai, Melbourne, Shanghai, Beijing, Paris/de Gaulle, Frankfurt and Zurich have also made their way into Version 1 of Connect on Time.
Alas, there are no Indian airports listed in the app.
Hopefully, a future upgrade will add Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata airports to the list.
Connect On Time's developers plan to eventually cover the top 100 airports in multiple languages for both the iPhone and Android phones.
The app comes free with three activated airports (Abu Dhabi, London/Stansted and Honolulu) and does not require a WiFi connection to work.
Travelers can activate other airports for $1.99 each through the in-app purchase feature.
