American Airlines and JetBlue have announced they will not charge customers booked to travel February 14, 2013-February 25, 2013 from NYC area airports a ticket change fee.
Because of Hurricane Sandy, many schools in New York City were forced to close.
To make up for lost days, many schools in the area will need to change or cancel mid-winter break, affecting travel plans in February 2013.
Although customers on the two airlines can rebook their flights without a ticket change fee, they will still be responsible for the difference in airfare, if any.
For JetBlue, the tickets must have been booked on or before November 28, 2012 for travel between February 14, 2013-February 25, 2013. All changes and cancellations must be completed by December 31, 2012.
For passengers booked on American Airlines, the tickets must have been issued no later than November 28, 2012 for travel between February 15, 2013-February 24, 2013. Customers may travel within one year from the original ticket issue date. American Airline customers unable to rebook a ticket prior to Dec. 31,2012 will get refunds in the form of vouchers.
