To the great relief of travelers, Liberty Airport at Newark (EWR) has reopened.
The airport resumed flights at 7AM today after being shut down for a couple of days by Hurricane Sandy.
Since carriers will be providing only limited service Wednesday, check with your airline before heading out to the airport.
Newark airport authorities said the on-airport gas station (including CNG refueling) and all rental car facilities except for Avis would remain closed until further notice.
The AirTrain servce to and from Newark airport is still closed.
Since Holland Tunnel out of New York City is closed, travelers heading to Newark from Manhattan should allow for extra time to reach the airport.
Lifeline for Travelers
Newark, along with JFK and LaGuardia, are the three NYC area airports that form a lifeline for travelers in the North East.
JFK Airport also reopened his morning but the carriers are offering only limited service today.
LaGuardia airport remains closed due to flooding.
