Summer’s approaching and it’s time for you to take a breather and recharge your batteries. And what better way to do that than to enjoy a relaxing stay at one of these beautiful travel destinations.

South Africa: After hosting the FIFA world cup in 2010, South Africa has grown into a popular tourist spot. You can relax on one of its beaches, explore the wild through safaris, or revel in its cities’ nightlife. And with many new five-star hotels coming up, you can have all of that in consummate luxury.

Vancouver Island: If you’re looking for outdoor adventure, this is the place to go. Hiking, nature-walking, whale watching, fishing, storm watching – you get my point.

Mumbai: The financial capital of India, Mumbai is a port city located in the western part of the state of Maharashtra. Its beauty lies in its people, who are exceptionally friendly. It’s a city that has everything – history, art, Bollywood, beaches, ports, universities, gardens, monuments and, of course, a nightlife. Make sure to take out a day for a refreshing night-walk on Nariman Point and Marine Drive. As far as staying in Mumbai is concerned, you’ll find numerous hotels that suit your budget.

Sri Lanka: This Island is a natural paradise. As you go along exploring, you’ll find humans and all sorts of animals living in peaceful harmony. You can swim with buffaloes, walk with elephants and talk to birds. And the beaches are simply beautiful. If you have time, do check out Nilaveli beach if you can for some peaceful solitary relaxation.

Copenhagen: Copenhagen is setting an example for the world by not just talking green, but by living it. Copenhageners prefer travelling on bicycles rather than in cars or gas guzzling SUVs. And if you go to Copenhagen, chances are you’ll have to rent a bicycle as well, because the people there will make you feel guilty if you don’t. Of course, there’s more to this city than cycling. You can go to Norrebro for a slice of History and culture or if you’re an admirer of world famous Danish design, then you can visit the Danish Design Center in downtown Copenhagen. The city also has its fair share of architecture, beaches, shopping, nightlife et al.

Antarctica: Antarctica doesn’t have a night-life. Or course, if you’re lucky, you can get entry into the local penguin bar, but they generally don’t entertain humans. Apart from that, you can lose yourself into the wilderness. The white expanse of snow and ice is simply surreal. And you can also take some pictures of those glaciers that still remain and those that probably won’t in the years to come. However, Antarctica is cold during what we call summer. So ideally, you would want to go to Antarctica in Antarctica’s summer, which is between October and March when many tours are conducted.

Los Angeles: Hollywood is what comes to mind when we hear the word “Los Angeles”. But there’s much more to the city than that. Numerous museums and galleries scattered across the city will definitely satiate your hunger for artistic appreciation. If you’re the sporty type, you can catch on to some major sporting action at one of the many stadiums.

Shanghai: The most developed city in China, Shanghai beautifully blends the East and the West. As China prepared itself for the Olympics, this city, along with Beijing, saw some major development and, as a result, came out shinier and swankier than ever.

Caribbean: These islands don’t require any introduction. They have long remained an ideal destination for almost anyone. After all, nothing can be more rejuvenating than cool sea breezes under the sun.

Nepal: Home of the Mount Everest and the birthplace of the Buddha, Nepal, with its numerous temples and monasteries is ideal for those in mood of a spiritual retreat. If you want some action during your retreat, you can trek, raft, go on a safari, try your hand at mountain biking or become the nth person to climb Mount Everest.
