Etihad Airways is adding a second daily service from New York City (JFK) to Abu Dhabi thanks to its partnership with India's Jet Airways.
The new service starts March 1, 2014.
For Indian-Americans living in New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Connecticut and eastern part of Pennsylvnia, the extra service will come as welcome news since Etihad provides convenient connections to 10 destinations in India from its hub in Abu Dhabi.
Etihad Flight, EY102 will leave New York's JFK airport at 11.35AM, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 9.20AM the next day.
On the return leg, Flight EY103 will leave Abu Dhabi International Airport at 1.45AM, arriving at JFK at 7.45AM the same day.
The schedule for the second NYC-Abhu Dhabi service has been designed to link in both directions with Etihad Airways and Jet Airways flights between Abu Dhabi and major Indian destinations.
The new service complements Etihad's current 9:40PM departure from JFK to Abu Dhabi and 10:30AM departure from Abu Dhabi to NYC.
Help from Jet Airways
Eithad will initially operate the new service using two tri-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft leased from Jet Airways.
The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft is the largest three-class plane in Etihad's fleet.
Jet Airways will operate these flights from May 1, 2014.
Etihad holds a 24% stake in Jet Airways.
Etihad Airways intends to start flying to two new US destinations, Los Angeles daily from June 2014 and Dallas-Fort Worth three times a week from December 2014.
Besides New York, Etihad already flies daily between Abu Dhabi and both Washington, D.C. and Chicago.
