Never let it be said that U.S. airlines miss a single opportunity to dip into your wallet.
It seems like not a single week passes without airlines launching a new add-on fee to boost their bottom line and in the process vexing travelers further.
The latet guilty party is United Airlines, which recently introduced a Premier Access service that promises to speed customers through airports.
Starts at $9 Per Segment
United customers may now purchase access to expedited check-in and security lanes along with priority boarding for prices that start at $9 per segment.
While Premier Access priority check-in and boarding are available at all airports that United serves, access to priority security lines is offered only at the following airports:
* Baltimore-Washington International (BWI)
* Boston Logan (BOS)
* Chicago O'Hare (ORD)
• Cleveland (CLE)
• Denver (DEN)
• Detroit (DTW)
• Fort Lauderdale (FLL)
• Fort Myers (RSW)
• Houston Intercontinental (IAH)
• Kansas City (MCI)
• Las Vegas (LAS)
• Los Angeles (LAX)
• Miami (MIA)
• Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP)
• New York JFK (JFK)
• New York LaGuardia (LGA)
• New York/Newark (EWR)
• Oklahoma City (OKC)
• Orange County (SNA)
• Orlando (MCO)
• Philadelphia (PHL)
• Phoenix (PHX)
• Portland (PDX)
• San Diego (SAN)
• San Francisco (SFO)
• Seattle (SEA)
• Tulsa (TUL)
• Washington Dulles (IAD)
• Washington National (DCA)
It's important to remember that Premier Access does not include priority baggage handling.
United said it'd limit the number of customers who may purchase Premier Access to ensure its availability to the airline's premier-level frequent flyers and eligible United MileagePlus credit cardmembers including MileagePlus Explorer and Club Visa cardmembers.
Premier Access may be purchased online, at airport kiosks, on a mobile device or by calling United reservations.
United Expands Baggage Delivery
Separately, United expanded its month-old BagsVIP baggage delivery service to an additional 30 cities.
United will deliver bags within a 40-mile radius of the arrival airport for a fee of $29.95 (1 bag); $39.95 (2 bags); and $49.95 (3-8 bags).
For an additional fee that varies by distance, delivery is available up to a 100-mile radius.
Baggage delivery pricing is on top of any standard checked-bag charges.
United now offers BagsVIP in 36 cities and plans to expand the service to 190 domestic airports eventually.
BagsVIP is said to be available now for customers flying on 80% of United's domestic flights,
