Chicago will be Emirates' ninth gateway in the U.S. when the airline commences service between Chicago and Dubai on August 5, 2014.
The airline plans to offer daily flights to Dubai from Terminal 5 of Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
There is a sizable Indian population in Chicago and surrounding states like Wisconsin and Indiana for whom Emirates' new service will be a convenient option when it comes to their annual trips to the homeland.
From its headquarters in Dubai, Emirates flies to 10 Indian destinations including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
The Chicago service will operate as Flight EK 235 from Dubai International Airport, departing at 9:45 hours and arriving into Chicago at 15:25.
On the return leg, EK 236 will leave O’Hare at 20:35 hours, and touch down at 19:10 in Dubai the next day.
The Chicago service will be operated by a Boeing 777-200LR. The choice of Boeing is not a big surprise given that Chicago is the headquarters of Boeing.
The aircraft will have a three cabin configuration with 8 First Class suites, 42 Business Class suites and 216 Economy Class seats.
Besides 266 passengers, the aircraft will have the capacity to carry up to 17 tons of cargo to boost trade between Dubai and Chicago
As previously announced, on March 10, 2014 Emirates will start flying into Boston.
