It used to be that we could carry on all types of items on a plane, but each time we are flight risksthreatened, and especially after 9/11, we have cracked down on what we can and can’t take on the airplane.  I came across a really funny cartoon that showed the passengers, with guns, aimed at the terrorists who had box cutters in their hands, and the terrorists saying, "hey, relax, we just thought the pilot needed some boxes opened!"

Airline baggage policies vary from country to country.    Here are some differences in regards to certain carry-on bags.

I did not want to list each and every item because many of the items I came across were standard prohibited in these airlines.  When I first began traveling, I thought every airline was in tune to what was allowed or not, and as you can see from this list, some things that are not allowed vs. another airline it is okay.  Australia amended corkscrews, knitting and sewing needles, nail files, nail clippers, sports racquets, and umbrellas with pointed metal end in December of 2009.  Those who travel are aware of TSA prohibited items, but if you are traveling internationally on a foreign airline, it is always good to visit their website, or call in advance if you are unsure of their prohibited items.

Happy traveling.
