According to a story published in a magazine, rich and affluent people also, who stays in star hotels can not resist picking up few things from the hotel without permission. It was observed that a small rectangular or oval shaped piece of soap is the most picked up item from a hotel. It is surprising to note that such items are picked up by those people who are very affluent and can purchase such items easily from the market.
The soaps kept on the sinks in bathrooms normally are branded such as Bulgari, L’Occitane, Acqua di Parma, Hermes, etc. The mind set of people picking these things from hotel rooms is difficult to understand. Some experts say that such guests normally believe that picking up things is their prerogative as they deserve it. They think that since they are shelling out so much money for their stay in hotels, they can carry these things that were meant for their use at the first place. Many guests have a firm belief in the premise that when they rent a room for a day, all the cosmetics and such that are placed in their room are for them to use. In case they are not able to use them completely, they have full right to take these partially used things along with them. As it is partially used ones will not be used by next guest so why leave it?
It has also been seen that when tipped nicely, housekeepers themselves leave extra toiletries in the room even when they know that they won’t be used completely. This means that they are aware of the guest’s love for such small things!
