LaGuardia airport in New York City will reopen today, i.e. Thursday, November 1, at 7AM.

Both runways at LaGuardia are expected to be operational today.

This means that all three major NYC area airports, JFK, LaGuardia and Newark (NJ) will be operating on Thursday.

Flights at JFK and Newark airports resumed on a limited basis Wednesday.

LaGuardia suffered flooding from Hurricane Sandy with water accumulating on the tarmac.

Limited Service Thursday

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said carriers would be offering only limited service Thursday at LaGuardia.

Media reports had American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines planning to restart flights at LaGuardia Thursday.

Travelers are advised to check with the airline on their flights before heading out to the airport.

Public transportation has been badly affected in NYC and still far from restored.

Given the traffic snarls and gasoline shortages in NYC, allow extra time to get to the airport.

The closing of the three airports has caused enormous inconvenience to travelers with thousands  stranded in NYC.

Although airlines are starting to commence flights, it'll be a few days before all the flights are restored.
