Many times we have come across the problems of hidden fees being charged by service providers. Be it the field of education, life insurance, airlines and latest hotels, the problem can be seen in all spheres of our life. “Nickel and diming” travellers led to severe criticism of airlines quire recently.
The same is coming true for hotels as well where hidden fees were charged by them to unsuspecting guests. This came into light when one of the guests staying in Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Santa Rosa was charged $0.75 fir newspapers which are supposed to be a free service provided by hotels all over the world. He was so enraged that he ended up filing a lawsuit against the hotel for this unethical practice. It was observed that the price of the newspaper was added to his bill and a very small font size was used to hide from the guest. But it came to light all the same and all hell broke loose.
Similarly many times it has come to the notice of the guests staying in star category hotels that delivery fee is charged from them for the room service and it ranges from $3 to $5. This is besides the hefty service tax being added to the guest’s bill. All this has brought hotels a very bad publicity. It is no more a gentle service but like sharks waiting to pounce upon unsuspecting guests. Many guests wouldn’t know if they are charged with hidden fees. This is a practice that is making people wary of staying in such hotels.
