Low fare airline SpiceJet became the first airline to start direct flights to Amritsar from Mumbai.
Being the home of the Sikh shrine at the Golden Temple, Amritsar is a major tourist destination but has never had a direct flight from Mumbai until recently.
International travelers landing at Mumbai and desiring to proceed to Amritsar were forced to take two flights to reach their destination.
Things finally changed late last month with the introduction of SpiceJet's daily flight to Amritsar and further on to Srinagar.
Daily Flights to Amritsar
Flight SG151 leaves Mumbai daily at 10AM and reaches Amritsar at 12:20PM.

On the return leg, SG152 departs from Srinagar at 14:45 and stops at Amritsar before proceeding to Mumbai at 15:50.
