Imagine the possibility of getting to take that journey you have always dreamed of to that exact place in the world that has always captured your heart!  Before you run off and purchase just any old tickets though, are five tips to help you buy airline tickets that will make your dream destination a reality.

Tip #1 - Look for “consolidator airfares”

Consolidator airfares are special fares that are given by airlines exclusively to some agencies.  With consolidator airfares you benefit from the leverage of bulk ticket purchases.  As a result, lower airfare is the norm, so don’t be surprised if you end up on a flight and the guy next to you payed double what you did because he purchased directly from the airline.

Tip #2 - Be flexible when you Purchase

Don’t force your airline ticket purchases into the dates that you are going to go on vacation.  That might sound odd, but doing so is kind of like putting the cart before the horse, especially if you're looking to score a great deal on that destination getaway.  For example, you will get a far better deal if you fly on non-peak days at non-peak hours.  You might have to take that vacation on your allotted vacation time from work, but in doing so remember that flexibility can save you a lot of money.

Tip #3 - Bundle

This might sound like a no-brainer, but the best deals come in bulk and bundles. If you want to get the best bargain when you buy airline tickets, consider adding lodging or resort packages into the mix.  Considering the ebb and flow of resort schedules is also a way to hone in on the best bundles available.

Tip #4 - Don’t buy airlines tickets too early

You have heard that if you buy your tickets really early you can get a great deal.  This is partially true, but you can actually purchase tickets too early.  Most studies show that if you buy tickets more than 6 months before an international flight, you might not be getting a deal.

So are you ready? Start doing your research, get those tickets purchased, your dream vacation planned and pack your bags.  It's time to fly!

Extra Tip! - Discounts

Don’t forget to search for promotional events and discounts.  Sometimes they are easy to miss but well worth the find.  Happy travels!
