India is truly a fantastic and magical travel destination, favoured by backpackers, honeymooners and holidaymakers from all over the world. It is also one of the fastest developing destinations for travel business . The huge increase in oil prices has had an impact on the cost of air travel to India yet despite the huge hike in air fares , Cheap international flightsto India can still be found. Kochi has been a cultural melting pot due to successive waves of migration and immigration both within India and from outside countries over the course of several millennia. The pan-Indian nature is highlighted by the substantial presence of various ethnic communities from different parts of the country and many people including Anglo-Indians who are products of cross-breeding with foreigners.

Cochin is the gateway to Kerala backwaters. It is originally a cluster of islands along the shore of Arabian Sea. It draws thousands of tourists in a year for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, beaches

and backwaters, age-old monuments and natural bounties. The main attractions are Cochin Harbour, Marine Drive Promenade, Jewish Synagogue, Chinese Fishing Nets, Jew Town, Dutch palace, Cherai Beach, Hill palace, etc.

The magnificent Cochin Harbour Port trust building with its rotating helicopter-like blades stands tall among other structures. The old airport is now operated by the Navy and Harbour Station sees only goods and freight trains. The commute to Fort Cochin via the 79-year-old Harbour Bridge takes about 30 minutes and costs Rs 50. Auto drivers quote Rs 150, the tourist rate; take it or leave it, they say. We leave it and opt for the boat. At Rs 4 a ticket, the 10-minute ferry ride through the backwaters seems like a good idea. But it takes us an hour to find the jetty to embark from as there are no signboards for help.

The city once had a large Jewish community, known as the Malabar Yehuden-and now referred to as Cochin Jews. The nos. of this group has dwindled and the foreign blood has been substantially diluted with local marriages. Retaining the Jewish knack for business, this group has figured prominently in Kochi's business and economic strata.

Now days many Airlines are offering Cheap Tickets to Cochin, the major airports in Kerala are Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. These airports cater to both international and domestic flights . Most international flights that connect to Kerala come from countries such as Singapore, Colombo and Male. You may also get a direct flight from some countries in the Middle East. If you are coming from neighbouring locales such as Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Goa or Delhi, you will also be able to get a direct flight connecting to these airports.
