Visiting Dubai, like every other great city of the world, has a personality as unique as any individual. But Dubai's persona, behind the ultra-modern facade of glass-faced towers, is one that often is as misunderstood as Chicago. It is almost impossible to avoid parallels between the two cities. So travel to Dubai is more fun and adventurous.

The modern history of each got a fresh start in the late 1800s after a fire destroyed many of its homes and businesses. Both began as ports for ships but now, each is famous for record-setting skyscrapers and exuberant architecture, all accessible by frequent cheap flights to Dubai on all major airlines.

Ask those who know the name Chicago but who lack direct experience, and the first word that comes to their lips is “gangsters.”  Ask about Dubai and the standard response is, “oil.” Neither is true.

Fewer than 3% of all the revenues that move through the Dubai economy are derived from oil and gas. The fantastic late-20th Century and early-21st Century growth and gleaming success of both cities are the results of their success as international trade centers and air travel hubs. The skyscrapers in both cities were built to house the offices of traders, bankers, distribution and transportation. Their airports serve lines from everywhere. Business travel is their lifeblood.

But that's enough comparison . . . let's see what makes Dubai unique. Why would anyone want to buy a plane ticket to Dubai?  It doesn't hurt that it's easy and inexpensive flights to Dubai are in reach for both economy and business class. Cheap tickets to Dubai are not limited to economy class. Even last minute Dubai tickets for business class travelers find good bargains tickets to Dubai at Air-Savings.Com.

But what's the attraction that brings close to 35 million passengers per year from all over the world, through Dubai International Airport (symbol: DXB)? Put simply, visiting Dubai makes business fun, and makes fun a business. As a result, it is the premier destination for commerce, not just in the Gulf Region, but the whole world.

While you travel to Dubai, The new Dubai World Central International Airport will have an annual passenger capacity of more than 120 million - almost 50% more than Atlanta, currently the world’s busiest passenger airport. All major airlines in the Middle East offer frequent regularly scheduled cheap flights to the Middle East, Dubai and Gulf. It's a travel draw like no other.

You will be glad you got a low fare ticket to Dubai from Air-Savings.com when you see the world-famous Duty Free Shops. As soon as your Dubai flight arrives you would want to use some of those special savings to participate in a daily luxury car raffle and before you leave, check out the frequent million dollar jackpots drawn from a pool limited to 5,000 chances.

Some sources say that between 800 and 1,000 people who visit Dubai per day become residents in Dubai, making it one of the world's fastest growing cities.  More than three-quarters of Dubai's population are citizens of other countries. Of Dubai's approximately one million residents, close to 90% are foreign nationals.

Does that mean the city will run out of space? Not likely, The audacity of the city's planners is breathtaking. Need more beach? Build vast artificial islands with 120km (74.5mi) of new shoreline. Need better connections with the world? Create “Emirates airlines,” the world's most prestigious, award-winning, international airline to Dubai and Middle East.

Let's say you are an airport planner and you want to be sure of a steady supply of passengers. You create events that make people clamor for last minute flights to Middle East, low price air fares to Gulf and cheap tickets to Dubai. Every other year you host the world's largest trade show for buying and selling luxury airplanes. Fly in the world's champion tennis pros and fans will buy tickets to see them. Right there at the airport build a flower and perishables market that moves blossoms and blueberries, peonies and pineapples, plus lilies and lettuce. Business  class travelers will love it.
